This shore is supporting every year maintaining clen quiet sea shore part for female turtle to lay eggs; Safe Guarding the eggs,Hatching and safe release of this rare Turtles variety. Madhuban invites you to this journey from the nest to the sea which draws oohs and aahs from tourists – each of whom is gathered on the shore to witness this miracle of Nature!
Shri Vyadeshwar Temple
Shri Dev Vyadeshwar is a Hindu temple dedicated to the God Shiva.
Temple is about 8 kms from Madhuban. Sage Vyadi installed the lingam of Shiva at this temple in Guhagar. The Shiva icon and temple was thus named as Shree Vyadeshwar (the Lord of Vyadi).
The architectural style is called ‘Panchayatan’.A Panchayatan temple contains four subordinate shrines in four corners and the main shrine in the center of the podium, which forms the base.
Three small pieces were separated from the main or core part of the Pindi. One piece was located at Borya Adoor; the second piece went to Asgoli and the third piece to Anjanwel. At these locations, new Shiva temples were erected. These temples are known as Talkeshwar, Balkeshwar (Valukeshwar) and Udaleshwar (Uddalakeshwar) respectively. These three Shiva Pindis are considered to be incarnations of Shri Vyadeshwar. The said locations being very close to Guhagar, devotees of Shri Vyadeshwar may visit these three temples also.
Velaneshwar
Approximately 25 KM south of Guhagar, along Guhagar-Hedvi road, is located this beautiful temple of Lord Shiva. The temple is right on the pristine sea shore.
The main sanctum of the temple is adorned with paintings and stone carvings representing various episodes of mythology. Velaneshwar beach is quite famous for its location and also the peaceful surroundings. The beach experiences stable waves throughout the year and is an ideal beach for swimming and sunbathing. The temple’s location by the sea also adds a unique element to the experience, as the sound of waves crashing in the background creates a harmonious atmosphere.
There are smaller temples of other gods like Shri Vishnu, Ganesha, Kalabhairav around the main temple.
Hedvi
Hedvi is a small village located at approximately 27KM along Guhagar-Narvan road, towards south of Guhagar. This small vilalge is yet another popular location around Guhagar that boasts of some places worth seeing. Most famous is the temple of Dashabhuja (10 Hands) Ganapati. This temple dates back to age of Peshwas. The idol of lord Ganesha is carved in marble and is supposed to be from Jammu-Kashmir. The temple is recently renovated and is very clean and simple.
This ‘Laxmi – Ganesh Temple’ is not only ancient but also rare. This temple may have been erected in the period of Peshwa. The deity has been founded on the top of Mountain. The Ganesh idol has been carved in white stone. Such stones are found in Kashmir region. The specialty of the idol is that this is 3 feet high and it has 10 hands. This majestic idol is on a seat of 2 feet
Gopalgad / Anjanwel Lighthouse
Gopalgad is about 12 kilometers from Madhuban and on the way to Dhopave Jetty; Gopalgad is an ancient hill fort located at Anjanvel village. Gopalgad Fort was built on the banks of Vashishti creek for the protection of Dabhol, an ancient port city. It spreads over an area of around 7 acres and the fort is divided into two parts. The lower part of the fort walls is called Padkot while the upper walls are referred to as Balekot. Strong fort walls comprising 12 burujs have been constructed to protect the fort against attacks. It has two main entrance gates, situated on the eastern and western sides.This ancient fort is located near Anjanvel – 11KM North of Guhagar, along the coast line. It is believed to be built at the start of 16th Century by the Siddis. It was captured by Shivaji Maharaj in 1660. What remains today is the huge fort that spans 7 Acres of land.
The Anjanvel Lighthouse, about 2 km from Anjanvel Fort, is a nice place to visit especially in the evening. Rebuilt in 1960s this light house is perched on a steep hillock. The Anjanvel Lighthouse is one of the primary attractions and one can climb up to the top by paying a nominal fee. Though not very tall (30 feet) the view from the top of the light house is magnificent.
Just outside the lighthouse there is a small temple – Tolekeshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva in the backdrop of the beautiful sea.
Budhal
Budhal beach is rarely visited by tourists. The fun factor of this beach is that the adventurous can hike up the hill near Budhal for excellent views of the sea from the top of the hill, which might add to the frolic of the kids.
The sea shore of Budhal offers pure serenity. This small town is located around 5 KM from Village Adoor Phata along Guhagar Hedvi Road. The town is scantily populated – hardly 40 houses. The approach road terminates at a spot that offers commanding view of the entire Budhal village.
